Q1. What size part will fit on the Oasis?
A. The Oasis model numbers and associated Fields of View
are as follows:
Model 622-0.2x/12, FOV = 1.69" x 1.35"
Model 622-0.4x/12, FOV = 0.84" x 0.68"
Model 622-0.7x/12, FOV = 0.48" x 0.39"
Keep in mind, this is the "Field of View", or the
maximum size that the Oasis can see on the screen at one
time.
Larger parts can be accommodated by using separate Oasis
part programs for each end or a section of a longer
part.
Q2. What is the warranty?
A. The warranty is complete 1-year, parts & labor.
Q3. What wear items are on the
Oasis?
A. There aren't any wear items.
Q4. What type of light source
does the Oasis use, what is its life expectancy, and how
expensive is it to replace?
A. The light source "type" is an LED mounted on a small
circuit board. The life expectancy (actually a
half-life) is 50,000 hours. If you never shut the Oasis
off, that would be almost 6-years. Running 8-hours a
day, 5-days a week, the life expectancy of the light
source is 24-years. The cost of replacement is about $60
(sixty bucks).
Q5. Who does the calibration,
how often is necessary under normal use, and how much
does it cost?
A. We recommend calibration once or twice a year.
However, it's unlikely that it would actually need to be
calibrated that frequently. The Oasis has a built-in
calibration function. We include a calibration kit and
instructions. Following those instructions, you can
calibrate the Oasis yourselves at no cost in about
5-minutes. Really, it's a simple process. If you choose
to outsource the calibration to a 3rd party, they better
not charge you too much for 5-minutes of work!
Q6. What maintenance needs to
be done, other than regular cleaning?
A. Other than normal cleaning, no other maintenance is
required.
Q7. Is it OK to use near
Machine tools where it would be exposed to light oil
mist?
A. Yes, you can use the Oasis on the shop floor. Most
Oasis users do.
Q8. Will the Oasis work with
my SPC software?
A. Yes. The Oasis has been integrated with numerous SPC
packages for real-time data acquisition and Statistical
Process Control. Feel free to
contact us
for a list of SPC software packages that are currently
being used in shops. Whether your specific SPC
program is on our list or not, we'll be happy to help
with connecting the Oasis to your SPC system.
Q9. How big is the Oasis?
A. The main Oasis unit (not considering the monitor,
keyboard, or mouse) has a footprint of 30" (762mm) wide
by 16-1/2" (419 mm) deep and is 12-1/2" (318mm) tall.
